We, the people of Minas Gerais, were wrong to call him "Aleijadinho". This is ableism today, at the time no one had any idea of it.

The objective is to offer the public a souvenir from Minas Gerais with a substantial content of details of the work of Antônio Francisco Lisboa, specifically the Prophets of the Bom Jesus de Matosinhos Sanctuary in Congonhas, his greatest work, listed as a world heritage site by UNESCO.
Historical Repair:
We do not refer to Antônio Francisco Lisboa by the infamous and derogatory nickname of “Aleijadinho.” We reject such a nickname because it is ableist and harmful to the memory of this brilliant artist. We even defend the idea that a historical reparation will be necessary to reposition his birth name alongside the myth.
