Sculptor, carver and architect, ANTÔNIO FRANCISCO LISBOA is one of the masters who helped build the Baroque scenes of which the architectural complex of the Santuário de Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, in Congonhas, is one of the most impressive examples. Recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1985, it is made up of six chapels that house 64 wooden pieces representing Christ's Calvary and is completed in the main sanctuary on whose stairs are the 12 soapstone prophets.
